Seeking to shake off BSP’s image as a party which cares only for SC/STs, Mayawati today said it was not against any caste or religion and wanted to build a society based on the principles of equality. “BSP is not against any caste or religion. I am simply angered to read about the EC remark on the statues of Mayawati ji and the Elephants saying that it will influence voting pattern. This is certainly congress handiwork to facilitate their \’YUVARAJ\’. More than 200 Indian girls whose names mean “unwanted” in Hindi have chosen new names for a fresh start in life. A central Indian district held a renaming ceremony Saturday that it hopes will give the girls new dignity and help fight widespread gender discrimination that gives India a skewed gender ratio, with far more boys than girls. 2 new underpasses approved on Noida Extension route

In a bid to streamline traffic movement along the Captain Shashikant Marg, which runs from the Noida City Centre towards Noida Extension, the Noida Authority will soon begin construction of two underpasses on this route. Work on both the projects – one just ahead of the City Centre Metro station and the other near sector 72 – is expected to begin within a month after evaluation of the tender documents. A ray of hope seems to be emerging for homebuyers of Noida Extension now that farmers have decided on a settlement with the Greater Noida Authority. On Wednesday, hundreds of farmers met with the Authority officials and agreed to not move the Supreme Court once their demands were met. The Authority, on its part, has agreed to most of the farmers’ demands that include settling abadi-related disputes and undertaking developmental works in their villages.
