The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati has strongly criticised the Agriculture Minister of Congress led U.P.A. Government for holding global warming and State Governments responsible for the rising inflation, instead of accepting that the Central Government was responsible for it. She said that the ever rising inflation was the result of the wrong economic policies of the Central Government. She said that all the policies of the Central Government were formulated keeping interests of the capitalists in mind; it had nothing to do with the common man. She said that owing to these policies, the common man was facing difficulties to make both ends meet and to arrange two square meals. The C.M. said that the Central Government with a view to taking advantage had decreased the prices of diesel and petrol immediately before the general election of the Lok Sabha, but after the election was over the Congress led Central Government increased the petroleum prices again with an objective to benefit the capitalists and owing to it the inflation began increasing again.
Ms. Mayawati said that keeping in view the possible decline in the paddy crop in the country, its export should have been banned, but owing to the
pressure exerted by economic criminals and black marketeers, its export was allowed to benefit them and now the people were forced to face its adverse
results. She said that the wholesale price index of the edible articles was 246 in November 2008, which had risen to 287.1 in November 2009. Thus, there was an increase of 20 per cent in the prices of edible articles, which was unprecedented. She questioned how come the State Governments were responsible for it. The Chief Minister said that one example of ‘Congress ka Haath, Poonjipatiyon Ke Saath’ came to fore, when the Central Government with a view
to benefiting the capitalists, tried to shift the burden of increased sugarcane prices on the State Governments, but owing to intense public wrath the Central Government had to amend the law. She said that it was the Central Government, which was solely responsible for the rising prices of sugar, because the Union Agriculture Minister had repeatedly said in the recent past that the sugar prices would increase in the future and owing to it the speculators and profit makers got another golden opportunity to increase the prices of sugar. Ms. Mayawati said that owing to the wrong economic policies of the Central Government the common man of the country was facing the problem of inflation. She said that the Union Government should stop thrusting its failures on the State Governments, instead it should formulate policies keeping in mind interests of the people and it should get rid of the pressures of the capitalists.
