Ms. Mayawati’s Rs 7,300 crore birthday gift for UP

Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Ms. Mayawati [ Images ] celebrated her 54th birthday on Friday, but without the trademark pomp, splendour and ostentatious celebrations. Instead, the CM surprised many by announcing welfare programmes for the poor and development schemes worth over Rs 7,300 crore for the state. Her earlier birthdays were celebrated as arthik sahyog diwas (fund raising day) when her partymen allegedly indulged in blatant extortion. UP CM Ms.Mayawati releases 25 convicts on her birthday

On the occasion of her birthday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati has recommended release of 25 old and sick convicts undergoing imprisonment in various jails of the state. The government has already recommended it to Governor BL Joshi, CM Mayawati said here. The government has also decided to release of 26,336 poor inmates who were languishing in jails due to non payment of bail amount while 960 other were also released on bail after completion of half of their jail term. BSP sweeps Uttar Pradesh council polls

 Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) made a clean sweep in the Uttar Pradesh legislative council polls, winning 31 of the 33 seats, counting for which was held on Wednesday. While the Election Commission is yet to declare the results officially, according to sources in the State Election Commission, of the 33 seats for which counting was held, the BSP won 31, the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) could get only one seat each, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could not even open its account. Ms. Mayawati comes to the resucue of Hockey India

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today announced to give Hockey India(HI) a financial assistance of Rupees 5 crore to sort out the differences between the players and the organisation. This is said to be a gift to the hockey players by the UP CM on her 54th birthday this January 15. According to official sources, Ms Mayawati has proposed to give Rs 5 crore in next two years to help the hockey players who are in a tossle with the HI over their pending dues. CM reviews situation arising out of cold wave

Keeping in view the intense cold wave that has enveloped the State; the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati has directed the officers to ensure that bonfires were lit up at the public places in all the 312 tehsils of the State. To save children from the cold wave, she has also ordered closure of all the schools up to class 8 till Saturday, 09 January 2010. Formulate strategy for doubling agricultural production: Ms. Mayawati

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati directed the officers to formulate strategy for doubling the agricultural production of the state and present it before the State Cabinet within a month. She directed the officers to take punitive action against those who had furnished wrong income certificates to avail government facilities. She also decided to replace Jal Nigam with other department or any other agency for the installation of and-pumps under the rural drinking water programme, so that its resources could be fully utilised for the large projects.
