A film on the life of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution, evoked good response from the audience in Hosur on Sunday.
The film, screened at Raghavendra Theatre on the Denkanikottai Road, attracted students, officials and members of Dalit associations in the district.
The screening was organised by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers’ and Artistes’ Association. More than 1,000 people viewed the film, said State Deputy Secretary of the Association Aadhavan Theetchanya.
Association secretary N. Gopal, and president R. Tamilselven co-ordinated the special screening.
As many as 150 students from John Bosco Girls Higher Secondary Higher Secondary School also watched the film on Sunday.
The film, starring Mammootty and Sonali Kulkarni presented a vivid picture on the major decisions taken by Dr. Ambedkar during critical moments in Indian history. The film captures the leader’s efforts for the socio-economic uplift of the downtrodden. The Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artistes Association had approached the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) for screening the film in various parts of the State.
The film had already been screened in Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem, Tirupur and Erode districts. [The Hindu]
