State Government will not overlook the interests of farmers

Necessary orders issued for disposal of several problems raised by farmers during Kisan Panchayat regarding fertilizer, seeds, electricity, irrigation, wheat purchase etc.

The State Government Spokesman has said that necessary orders had been issued by the Government to ensure the disposal of farmers’ problems regarding-fertilizer, seeds, electricity, irrigation, wheat purchase, roads etc. These problems were raised by the farmers during Kisan Panchayat held on 02 June 2011 in Lucknow. Meanwhile, Bhartiya Kisan Union has appreciated the efforts of the State Government in this regard.

The Spokesman said that farmers had demanded for energizing the connection of less than 7.5HP pump sets for which orders have been issued. Besides, the orders for making the pass book available to rural consumers for payment of electricity bill of power supply without electricity meters and the facility of depositing the bill in post office have also been issued.
The Spokesman said that farmers had demanded for  checking of transformer load, establishment of high-capacity transformers and fixing the amount for regularising of illegal
connection Rs. 250 and Rs. 500 for BPL and APL category respectively. The State Government has issued necessary orders in this connection.

The Spokesman said that orders had also been issued to dispose of several problems relating to power sector including no harassing of the farmers for changing the  non-functional fused transformers. He said that the farmers had raised some problems related to Co-operative Department for which necessary orders had been issued.

The Spokesman said that action was being taken to provide long-term loans to farmers on low interest rates. He said that necessary amount of money had been allotted to districts for wheat purchase. He said that farmers had demanded the price of fertilizers equal to Haryana. In this connection letter had been written to Union Government to remove ACTN tax. Besides, directives had been issued to all the District Magistrates to check the sale of fake and sub-standard fertilizers, seeds and pesticides.

The Spokesman said that directives had been issued to hold Kisan meeting on the date of 22nd every month to solve the problems of the farmers under the Chairmanship of District Magistrate from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Necessary action is being taken to prevent the black marketing of tractor price in Muzaffarnagar district. Orders have been issued to all District Magistrates for providing credit cards to farmers from banks.

The Spokesman said that verification regarding de-silting of canals and rajbahas was being done through flying squad. The remaining works of Chogamma canal was also being completed on priority basis.
